Australian born Contemporary Artist Fipé Gouge Merrall caught our eye with her vivid paintings of the female form. Now residing in Sweden, Fipé finds herself practising yoga and taking forest walks when she isn't painting and shares her artistic interpretation of our Pre-Fall campaign below.
Where are you from and where are you now? I grew up along the beaches of Sydney, Australia, and also spent some time in Byron Bay where a lot of my family live, and now I´m currently living in Sweden and have been for the last four years with my Swedish partner and our two little cats Figge and Miro.

What journey has led you to becoming an artist? I´ve always been interested in drawing from a young age and growing up in the centre of Sydney was definitely a factor as it´s such a creative beautiful city with a great art scene. Art was my favourite subject throughout school and after high school I started studying fine arts at the National Art School. At NAS they really focus on the fundamentals of drawing and I think that´s really where my love for creating figurative works began.

What do you do to get into the creative work flow? Putting on my favourite music helps keep me in the studio creating. Also being around creative people, art galleries, and travelling to inspiring places.
What artists past and present influence your work? There´s so many but some old favourites are Francis Bacon, Euan Uglow, Hilma Klint, Rodin, and current favourites are Jordy Kerwick, Yayoi Kusama, Jay Miriam, Corey Mason, Hester Finch, I really could go on forever!
